the one-liner
Emotional literacy for adults — the words for what you're actually feeling, and something to do with them.
what it is
No BS Feelings Finder is an iPhone app that helps adults name what they're actually feeling and then do something with it. You tap the phrase you'd actually say — "seeing red," "going through the motions," "why did I say that" — and the app returns the emotion underneath, what it feels like in the body, and a short set of things to do with it. Hundreds of phrases across nine emotion categories, tiered by intensity. It includes a journal, iCloud sync, per-entry PDF export, and a crisis tab that is always accessible and never behind a paywall. It is built to tell you when a feeling needs a person, not an app.

story angles
The privacy counter-example. A mental-health-adjacent app where the company collects nothing and the user decides what's shared, in a category regulators and privacy researchers keep flagging.
Emotional literacy as something you build. The app treats naming a feeling as a learnable capacity, not a trait, and starts from the words people actually use instead of a clinical checklist.
Journaling without the be-better machine. Room for anger, flatness, and the good ones. No streaks, no scores, no cheer-up scripts.
The bridge. An app built to point past itself — find the word, then take it to a person. The most differentiating surface in the product is the one that tells you this needs a human.
about the founder
Asher Castillo built No BS Feelings Finder after years of caregiving work, where he kept meeting people who had the feeling but not the words for it, and found the same gap in himself. A solo developer working in mental health, he built the app alone in Denver. He is not a clinician; the app is not therapy.
boilerplate
