About the app
A plain-language emotion finder for iOS. You tap a phrase that matches how you're feeling — "seeing red," "I'm spiraling," "just off somehow" — and the app returns the specific emotion name, what it feels like in your body, and what to do with it. Phrases are organized by category and intensity so you can browse to the right one, or use the Find tab if nothing immediately fits.
No jargon. No coaching. No performance of wellness. Just the word you were looking for.
No. It's a vocabulary tool. It won't diagnose, treat, or guide you through anything. If you want to know what you're feeling and what that feeling means, it's for you.
If you're in crisis or need clinical support, please reach out to a professional. The app always includes crisis resources — they're one tap away regardless of where you are in the app.
No. It doesn't log your emotional state, chart it over time, or score you on anything. The core app is a lookup tool — use it when you need it, put it down when you don't.
The optional Expansion Pack adds journaling and pattern tracking for people who want that. But it's not the default, and it's not required.
Most wellness apps want you to track moods, complete breathing exercises, or work through guided meditations. No BS does none of that. It does one thing: helps you find the word for what you're already feeling.
There are no streaks. No badges. No affirmations. No "you've got this." Just the plain language that was already sitting there, waiting to be named.
A mood tracker · a meditation app · a journaling platform · a mental health coaching tool · anything that wants you to perform wellness
It means we don't say "affect dysregulation" when we mean anger. We don't say "somatic awareness" when we mean "your jaw is clenched." The app speaks the way you think — colloquially, directly, without hedging.
If a 14-year-old wouldn't understand it, we rewrote it.
That's exactly what the Find tab is for. It has two doors:
Find a Feeling funnel — browse by emotion category and intensity tier until something clicks.
I'm Overwhelmed pathway — if words aren't coming at all, use the body × urge matrix. Select where you feel it (8 body locations) and what you want to do (8 urge types), and the app suggests three candidate phrases. From there you can also access a guided breathing exercise (4-in / 6-out) and the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique to re-anchor before continuing.
Each emotion result includes five sections of plain-language guidance matched to the intensity of your phrase:
Each category also has deeper content: what the emotion is for, what it's trying to tell you, what typically drives it, and patterns to watch for over time.

The waitlist
You get one email when the app launches on the App Store. That's it. No newsletter, no marketing drip, no weekly "we're still building it" updates.
No. One email at launch. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and we won't use your address for anything else.
We're targeting 2026. We'll send the waitlist notification as soon as it goes live on the App Store — no advance warning, just the link when it's ready.
Yes. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Or email us at hello@feelingsarentbs.com and we'll remove you manually.
Pricing
No. One-time purchase on the App Store. Pay once, own it. No monthly fees, no annual renewals, no "freemium" tier that quietly locks the useful parts.
Everything you need to find and understand an emotion. All nine categories, 90+ phrases, plain definitions, body sensations, intensity-matched responses, save and share, and lookup history.
The core app is designed to feel complete — not like a demo of the thing you're supposed to pay more for.
An optional one-time add-on for people who want analytics and pattern tracking. It adds Insights (weekly trends, emotion heatmaps, dashboards), advanced pattern tracking across sessions, and advanced journal history and filtering.
Journaling itself is in Core — the Expansion Pack is for people who want to see patterns across their history over time.
It's not a subscription. Pay once, same as the core app.
No. No ads, anywhere, ever. That's not a feature — it's just the baseline.
Pricing is confirmed at launch. Join the waitlist and you'll get the launch notification — that's when the App Store page goes live with the price.
Data & privacy
The core app doesn't require an account and doesn't collect personal data. Your lookups stay on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.
If you use the journal feature (Expansion Pack), entries are stored locally on your device and sync automatically via iCloud if you enable it.
No. We don't sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for anything beyond making the app work.
No. The core app works without any account or login. Download it, use it. Nothing else required.
The full privacy policy is available at /privacy. It's written in plain language — same standard as the app itself.
Crisis support
The app is a vocabulary tool, not a crisis resource. It's designed for people who want to understand their emotions — not for people in acute distress or crisis.
If you're struggling, please reach out to someone who can actually help. The app always keeps a crisis shortcut visible — one tap, no matter where you are in the app.

No. The app helps you name what you're feeling — that's genuinely useful, and naming is often where things start. But naming is not treatment.
If you're working through something significant, please work with a professional. Knowing the word "grief" is useful. A therapist is different.
